      I've only skimmed the book, but I've found it doesn't make any huge claims. I'd say it's decent for a general overview in regards to the religion in Japan at the time. I generally don't get Turnbull books for the information, but rather for the nice pictures. Once I have more free time, I'll do a proper read over of the book and give a better.
